Draft version 0.3 · last updated 25 October 2026
1. Who these terms are between
These terms are between CVRD LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17510812) whose registered office is at 124 City Road, London EC1V 2NX ("CVRD", "we", "us"), and the individual who registers an operator account ("you", the "Operator").
2. Your status — read this section carefully
When you work through CVRD you are a "worker" for employment-rights purposes, and self-employed for tax purposes. You are not an employee of CVRD. Practically, this means:
You choose which bookings to accept or decline, and you're not obliged to accept any minimum number.
You're paid holiday pay on every shift. Because your hours are irregular, it's paid "rolled up": an extra 12.07% on top of your pay for the hours you work, shown as a separate line on every payment (Section 7). CVRD pays it on top of your pay — it's never deducted from what you earn for the shift.
You're responsible for your own tax, National Insurance, and (if applicable) VAT — CVRD doesn't operate PAYE for operators.
You may work for other clients, including ones you find outside CVRD, and for other platforms.
3. Eligibility
To register as an operator, you confirm that:
- You are at least 18 years old.
- You hold a current, valid SIA licence for at least one of the categories CVRD covers (Security Guarding, Door Supervision, Close Protection, or CCTV — Public Space Surveillance), and the licence number you give us is accurate.
- You have the right to work in the UK, and can provide evidence of this if asked.
- Any information you give us — identity, licence details, contact details — is true and current.
You must tell us immediately if your SIA licence is suspended, revoked, or lapses. Continuing to accept bookings with an invalid licence is a serious breach of these terms and, more importantly, potentially a criminal offence under the Private Security Industry Act 2001.
4. Verification
We verify your SIA licence before your account is activated, and we may re-verify it periodically or before specific bookings. We may suspend your account at any time your licence status can't be confirmed as valid — this isn't a judgement on you personally, it's the hard rule the entire platform is built on for clients' safety and CVRD's credibility.
5. Performance tiers
Every operator account sits at one of four tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum. Unlike client tiers, these are earned through your track record on CVRD, not purchased — you can't pay to move up, and a change in performance can move you back down. Tiers are recalculated periodically against your trailing record, so they reflect how you're actually performing now, not a one-off achievement.
| Bronze | Silver | Gold | Platinum | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Qualifying record | Default on verification | 20+ completed bookings, ≥95% on-time attendance, 0 no-shows, ≥4.2 average client rating | 75+ bookings, ≥98% on-time, 0 no-shows in the trailing 6 months, ≥4.6 rating | 200+ bookings, ≥99% on-time, 0 no-shows in the trailing 12 months, ≥4.8 rating, more than one licence category held |
| Platform commission | 25% | 20% | 15% | 15% |
| Job visibility | Standard bookings from Bronze/Silver client accounts | + bookings from Gold client accounts | Priority alerts — see new matching bookings before Bronze/Silver operators | Eligible to be requested by name; sees Gold/Platinum client bookings first |
| Payout timing | 5 business days | 4 business days | 3 business days | Next business day |
Your cancellation notice requirement stays at 24 hours regardless of tier (Section 7) — tier rewards a track record of reliability, so it wouldn't be coherent to also relax the reliability bar as a reward. Client tiers work differently (their cancellation window narrows as a paid benefit) precisely because that trade-off doesn't apply the same way to a booking already accepted.
You can see your current tier, and what you need to reach the next one, at any time in your account.
6. Accepting and performing bookings
When you accept a booking, you're committing to attend as agreed.
- Cancelling more than 24 hours before the shift start: no penalty to your account — but cancel via the platform as soon as you know, so we have the best chance of rematching the client.
- Cancelling within 24 hours of the shift start: logged as a late cancellation against your account, and counts against the tier thresholds in Section 5. The client is refunded or rematched at no extra cost to them.
- Not showing up at all, with no cancellation given: treated as a serious breach, not a late cancellation — likely to result in immediate suspension pending review, given the direct impact on a client relying on you being there.
- 3 or more late cancellations or no-shows within a rolling 6 months triggers an account review and may lead to suspension — see Section 12, independently of whatever tier you're otherwise tracking toward.
Checking in. When you reach the site, check in through the platform with a photo of yourself holding your SIA licence beside your face, with the licence photo side facing the camera. Your phone shares its location once, to confirm you're there. The client sees the photo, so they can confirm you're the person named on the licence. If they ask for a new one (for example because the licence isn't visible), take another straight away. Your arrival time stays as your first check-in. We keep only the latest photo, for 90 days, then delete it (see our Privacy Policy). A check-in without the photo can't be recorded.
You're expected to present in line with what the client specified at booking (for example, suited, hi-vis, or venue-provided uniform) and to carry out the work within the scope of your SIA licence category and any lawful instructions from the client.
You must not do anything outside your licence category, and you're entitled to decline any instruction that would require you to.
7. Payment
- You'll be paid for completed bookings via Stripe Connect: the booking rate less CVRD's platform fee, which depends on your performance tier (Section 5) — 25% at Bronze, down to 15% at Gold and Platinum (floor raised from 12.5% on 2026-10-09).
- Plus holiday pay: 12.07% of your pay for the hours worked, paid by CVRD with every booking and shown separately, so it never reduces your pay. The percentage and your commission rate are fixed at the moment you're matched to a booking, so a later tier change doesn't alter a booking you've already accepted.
- If a client cancels a confirmed booking late and a cancellation fee applies (Client Terms §7), you receive the fee less CVRD's platform fee.
- Payment timing also depends on tier — from 5 business days (Bronze) down to next business day (Platinum).
- Tips: a client may choose to tip you after a completed shift. You receive 100% of every tip: CVRD takes no platform fee or commission from it and pays the card processing costs itself. Tips are paid to you through the same Stripe Connect payout route as your pay, separately itemised; if your payouts aren't set up yet, the tip is held for you and sent when they are. Tips are a gift from the client: no holiday pay is added to them, and they never affect your tier, your rating or your platform fee. If CVRD refunds a tip to a client because it was charged by mistake or fraudulently before it has been paid to you, it won't be paid out; if it has already been paid, we'll contact you before taking any further step. Tips are taxable income like the rest of your pay.
- You're responsible for your own tax affairs, including registering as self-employed with HMRC if you haven't already, and accounting for VAT if your turnover requires it. Holiday pay is taxable income like the rest of your pay.
8. Insurance
You don't need your own insurance to work through CVRD. CVRD holds public liability insurance and employer's liability insurance that cover you while you're carrying out a booking made through CVRD, from when you check in until the shift ends. Insurance isn't part of the tier requirements (Section 5).
The cover applies to work you do on CVRD bookings, in line with your SIA licence and these terms. It doesn't cover work you arrange outside CVRD, or anything done outside your licence or in breach of the law. If something happens on a job that could lead to a claim (an injury, damage, or an allegation against you), tell us straight away at hello@cvrd.uk, so we can notify our insurer.
9. Conduct
You agree to:
- Act professionally, lawfully, and in line with your SIA licence conditions at all times while on a CVRD booking.
- Treat clients, the public, and other operators with respect — no discrimination, harassment, or abusive conduct.
- Report any incident (use of force, injury, police involvement, or anything a reasonable person would consider significant) to CVRD and, where legally required, to the police, as soon as practical.
- Not represent yourself as an employee of CVRD or of the client.
10. Non-circumvention
For 12 months after a booking, you agree not to solicit or accept direct work from that same client outside the CVRD platform, bypassing CVRD's fees — the same duration as the equivalent clause in the Client Terms.
11. Data protection
Handled as described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms — including what we do with your licence and verification documents.
12. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if: your SIA licence becomes invalid; you breach these terms; we receive a serious complaint or incident report and reasonably need to investigate; or we reasonably suspect fraud or misrepresentation. Where practical, we'll tell you why and give you a chance to respond before a decision is final, except where the concern is urgent (e.g. licence invalidity, a serious safety allegation). You can close your account at any time; this doesn't affect payment for bookings already completed.
13. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, CVRD isn't liable for how you choose to carry out a booking, or for any dispute between you and a client, beyond CVRD's own responsibility to verify your licence status accurately and operate the platform as described. Nothing here excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else the law doesn't allow excluding.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service develops, including the tier thresholds and commission rates in Section 5. We'll give you reasonable notice of anything material before it takes effect.
15. General
- Governing law: England and Wales.
- Disputes: contact hello@cvrd.uk first. Unresolved disputes fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
- If part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
